iBex Chalk Bag

The iBex Chalk Bag is a medium-sized 10×11-inch bag created from Miles and Cole’s love for rock climbing. Their co-creativity and design skills have brought a bag that features a black shell, ivory exterior, and grey interior—entirely made of meticulously thought-out fabric choices to create a fully functioning chalk bag that is both visually unique and sleek. The bag also features two paracord closures, one for the shell and another for the chalk bag itself, of which the shell doubles as a shoulder strap. As a final feature, there’s a zipper pocket on the exterior of the bag, large enough for any small climbing items or other items of the user’s choosing.

The bag is designed so that the user may roll up the shell and hide the chalk-covered interior fabrics while commuting. Once the user is ready to use the bag for climbing, they may roll back the shell layer and expose a beautiful linoleum print – drawn, carved, and printed by Cole – on both sides of the bag. The print contains three variations of the ibex, along with stylized and simplified illustrations of foliage and hoofprints.

The shell material has been chosen with purpose in mind. It is made of a black Gore-Tex fabric meant to repel any rain or water while the user is commuting. The exterior fabric of the bag is an ivory denim chosen to give the bag the right amount of weight so the bag stands when put down and doesn’t spill any chalk. The interior of the bag is made of a grey polyester fleece-like fabric chosen to catch some of the chalk dust and simultaneously keep chalk from seeping through the fabric’s pores, all while maintaining a soft hand feel. All sewing of the bag has been done by Miles.
