Picnic Quilt

This, my first large quilt, was the first time I used free motion quilting and made me realize how difficult the art of quilting is. Quilting can be extremely physically taxing, and yet there is something incredibly mesmerizing and hypnotic and almost magical in the process. Women have been quilting for millennia and there is a tremendous power in practicing an art that links so many incredible artists across the ages.
